big magic- This month's read is Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert. I have to admit that I'm having a serious emotional relationship with this book. I've got about fifty pages to go but after reading over 100 pages in one sitting, it's safe to say this is a book I'll be returning to again and again. A favorite section is Marcus Aurelius Chimes In and if you see a video of me reading this passage aloud, don't be surprised.
habitual threads- I only just came across this brand on Instagram but I am truly blown away. The handcrafted jewelry collection is stunning and unique, the product photography is BEAUTIFUL (and I'm informed, mostly shot on an iPhone- color me impressed), and a portion of proceeds is donated to great causes. just dancing- I love me some Sylvan Esso. The sound just makes for some feel good music that's perfect for warm weather car jamming with the windows down. Die Young from their 2017 album What Now is a pretty popular tune and another favorite of mine is 2014's Coffee. I also love the story behind the "accidental formation" of this band- a collab. was born when no one was even looking.
game night- For an amusing night with friends, try What Do You Meme?, a Cards Against Humanity-esque card game where you compete to create the funniest meme by throwing down a caption card for a meme-worthy photo. It's pretty much a guarantee for a fun night in. And don't worry, when things start getting a little familiar you can pick up an expansion pack or two to keep the game fresh.
calypso-inspired- Bang Up To The Elephant is a new spot in Cap. Hill featuring a Caribbean style cafe, bar, & restaurant. The menu features quite the mix of adventurous eats (don't fret, there's a food glossary to help you choose) & the space is a huge, airy, plant-filled retreat that will make you feel as though you just took a day trip to LA. Add it to your list for something totally out-of-the-box for Denver.
